A reluctant sale of our Bolger Martha Jane balanced lug sail cat yawl. She has proven to be a capable vessel under sail, comfortable at anchor and surprisingly roomy for a boat of her size. Six water ballast tanks make her lighter and easier to tow and the trailer is in great condition featuring a unique launch & retrieval system. Dimensions: LENGTH – 23′ 6′′, BEAM – 6′, EMPTY WEIGHT – Approx 1400 lbs, BALLAST – 500 lbs (Water) DISPLACEMENT – 2350 lbs, DRAFT – 7′′ (Boards Up), SAIL AREA – 247 SQ FT SLEEPS – 2 Adults in 8′ Berths, DAY SAILS – Up to 4 Adults
Features: Counterbalanced mast is set in a tabernacle making for a quick and easy set up without standing rigging; 2 solar panels, Victron solar controller and AGM battery; refrigerator/icebox which works very well; 8’ single bunks which convert to an oversize queen bed; ample dry stowage; depth sounder; compass; VHF; 2 burner & grill stainless metho stove; running rigging in excellent condition; 6 hp long shaft outboard motor; trailer rego until end of November 2024. The boat recently underwent a year long refurbishment and is in excellent condition.
Mike O’Brien, senior editor of ‘Wooden Boat’ magazine, says in #80, ‘Built as drawn, Martha Jane should be self-bailing, self righting, unsinkable, easily trailer able, and fast under sail. She’s a most significant sharpie.’ For those who want a fast, comfortable and trailer able cruiser for two, or a spirited day-sailor for more, Martha Jane is the boat. No other small sharpie even comes close.

This is a truly special, hand-crafted wooden boat, built using traditional lapstrake (clinker-style) construction by skilled boat builders as part of a TAFE course. Made from polished timber in varied natural tones to showcase the craftsmanship and strength of the design.
The interior is simple and elegant, with solid framing, functional seating, a keel, and a rudder already fitted. It is in perfect, unused condition - never seasoned and never launched.
It was a wedding gift from family, our “love boat”, when we were living on a farm with a lake. Since moving to the city, we no longer have the space.

Both canoes are hand made using the stitch and glue method made of 4ml industrial ply with fiberglass seams
The Hull is painted with 2 pack marine paint - the deck with high grade exterior paint.
Both can easily accommodate 2 passengers and are in excellent condition.
The larger 2 man canoe is 4.5 metres long, has an 85 cm beam, and a hull depth of 40cm. It is fitted with front and rear buoyancy compartments.
It has excellent overall handling characteristics, with very good first and secondary stability.
Price - $150
This smaller “single man” canoe, (although it can handle two people quite comfortably) is 3.3 metres length, has a 75 cm beam, and a hull depth of 35 cm at the centre. It is fitted with front and rear buoyancy compartments.
The canoe has excellent overall handling characteristics, however I did have to add external floats to boost its secondary stability.

The bottom of the dinghy is fibreglass coated, as are the centreboard and rudder blade.
Everything in the boat – including the sails – is in good order and the boat has always been stored inside.
Everything is as you would expect from the hands of a man who has been a professional boat builder since 1958 (does that mean you have turned 80, Bill?)!
The price is $1800, and you can learn more about the boat from Bill, on 0428 475 425. No other technology is available to Bill, so no texts please, but Bill will give all the answers, verbally, over the ‘phone.
The boat is located in Bruthen, Victoria (Near Bairnsdale),
And does not come with a trailer.
This Galvanised trailer from a “deceased estate” would suit a powerboat about 13’ long. The trailer is registered and has waterproof lights. It’s been stored inside – never used! Would suit a “new buyer”.
$2000 is half the new price.

For Sale – Lady Ita, Classic Riverboat Offers over 50k (Phone Peter, 0409 583 767)
Peter Barbara

This Classic Riverboat build based on a David Payne design was started in the 70s in Perth (photos available). As Bob's creation, he painstakingly commissioned her over a long period in South Yunderup with the help of his friends. Bob named the boat after his mum and ‘Lady Ita’ was first launched in 2017. An eye-catcher, the gracious lady likes to look the part.
In recent years Lady Ita fell into my hands … Peter… the finishing stayed with the theme, and I spoiled her mod cons as well to the best of his ability… with that however, the finish is OK, very practical and serviceable… Finnish on a boat like this is however dependent on the owner's skills and budget, so if a new owner was so inclined it could be more skilfully upgraded… hence bargain price. The build had cost around 200k plus. I modernised a few essentials and fitted a new 85 hp Lomatec Diesel 2 years ago … recently serviced she has only done 100 hrs. With a quality new Bow thruster fitted a year ago she is easy to manoeuvre and lots of fun. Built for the Mandurah estuary and canals, she has a draft of 750mm, a broad central keel and role stabilizers… at 10 m long, 3m beam and weighing 6 ton the Ideal cruising speed is 7 knots and 9 knots sprint.
‘Lady Ita’ is more than a party boat; she is an overnighter as well. With:
-Cosey sleeping for 4 adults and 2 children there.
- A fully equipped head with a hot water shower and toilet.
- Small kitchen with microwave and a new full-sized fridge.
- 190 litres of water, 100 litres of Diesel.
- 2 new 120-amp hr house batteries a cranking battery and 2 235 watts solar panels.
- waterproof Lomar low-line hatches.
- Fairweather fun deck with seating and Bimini.
- safety gear… radio, flares, lifejackets, fire extinguisher.
I am moving on and cannot take the ‘Lady Ita’ with me, so I am accepting expressions of interest and offers over 50k for a while to ‘test the water’. This is an amazing opportunity to own this iconic boat. I am happy to discuss any aspect and demo ride with interested parties… the boat a modern build is relatively low-maintenance and fun to own… It has been great for me as I live on the canals in South Yunderup, but it could easily be put on a truck at Mandurah Marina boat lifters and sent east by road rail or ship.
Phone Peter 0409 583 767. A serious interstate buyer can be picked up at the airport and treated to a comfortable weekend stay at our Airbnb where the boat is moored.
