Hello everyone, here we are again socially distancing for the next few weeks. I am not going to use that “ lo*****n “ word!
So, what have we been doing over the last month? Our club night was on zoom and those joining had an opportunity to swap yarns and activities. This was attended by 12 people, so an intimate gathering.
Our AGM was held on Sunday 29 August again via zoom . We had an attendance of 22 people so easily had a quorum for voting on issues like a new committee.
We did have 3 resignations from committee... Geoff Carroll, Leigh McNolty and David Stott. Their experience and input will be missed but we hope to see them at future events.
Our new committee consists of:
President Chris kelly
Vice President Andrew Campbell,
Secretary Paul Rubera
Treasurer Sharon Drinkall
Web Person Penny Braybrook
Editor Peter Batchelor
Activities Graham Signorini
Promotions Officer Andrew Cohen
Committee Bob Morgan
Committee Gary Hardy
I welcome our new committee members and look forward to working together .
Any events we have scheduled at present are really in some doubt as to the COVID restrictions at the time so please keep watch on your email notifications for up dates .
You will find a couple of articles in Shavings submitted by a ghost writer who ran out of practical projects and let their imagination run wild instead ... enjoy.
Our next club night, 7:30pm, Wednesday 22 September, will be a zoom session, with a presentation by Jane Howard and Lindy Marlow updating us on the Williamstown St Ayles Skiff, “Thursday”, which was launched in December 2019.

WBA Club Identification Numbers
Following an enquiry from new member Julie Bertram whether we have club ID numbers for our boats I investigated further. As you are aware car clubs have “club” plates and some sail clubs also have ID numbers. After checking with the Department of Transport I have been advised that we can issue our own club boat ID numbers, as long as they are not going to confuse the registration numbers displayed.
I am thinking of having a mountable plaque made with the WBA logo and an ID number etched into the plate with a space for the boat’s name to be engraved as well.
Price? I don’t know at this time. Firstly, I would like to receive expressions of interest and we will develop this further if there is sufficient interest.
Email or phone me to register your interest.
Cheers, Chris
